On 13 February 2020, members of the State Security interrogated the activist Firas Bou Hatoum, two days after his summons, on charges of "insulting the Presidency of the Republic" on the back of his Facebook posts.
During the investigation, he denied the charges against him, deleted three posts on his Facebook page, and signed a pledge not to be insult the presidency, and was released after about five hours.
