An organized campaign began against activist Asaad Thebian, against the backdrop of his satirical comments on religious rituals and events celebrated by Christianity, dating back to the years 2013 and 2014, on his Facebook page. This campaign began with the publication of the "Free Patriotic Movement" website, an article entitled "The Mask Fell? With Pictures: Asaad Thebian offends the Christian Faith." Lawyers Charbel Samaan and Elias Aql had filed a case before the Public Prosecution, based on articles 473 and 474 misdemeanors, on charges of blasphemy and insulting religious rites.
